Small Step In The Right Direction: Feinberg Will NOT Penalize Cleanup Workers

S

It’s official…finally. The AP and others are confirming what we’ve been hearing for awhile: Gulf Coast Claims Facility administrator Kenneth Feinberg has officially announced that wages earned by cleanup workers will NOT be subtracted from their final claims of lost revenue. This is a clear victory – albeit a small one – for communities across the Gulf.

However, before we get to excited, we should watch BP’s actions surrounding that announcement. Has Feinberg’s decision pushed BP to end its cleanup efforts more quickly? BP recently halted the Vessels of Opportunity (VoO) program and is rapidly dismantling its overall response capabilities. Stay tuned.
