The national news media may have moved on from regular coverage of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, but state officials will be dealing with the impact for years to come.
The state Legislature’s Joint Natural Resources Committee will meet 9:30 a.m. Friday (Oct. 15) at the state Capitol to address Louisiana’s reputation for seafood and the environmental effects. The meeting will include a presentation by officials with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board regarding seafood marketing in the wake of the BP oil leak, which was sealed last month.
Ed Overton, professor emeritus at the Louisiana State University department of environmental sciences, will comment on the environmental status of the Gulf.
