Please take a look at the new clip posted above. It addresses the potential problems, symptoms and overall implications associated with air quality (or lack thereof) in the Gulf. Even as BP scurries for the exits across the Gulf, the oil giant continues to leave important questions about air contamination unanswered. Typically, you’d start to answer those questions by monitoring the breathing areas of those most exposed, but BP made sure that precious few cleanup workers dared to even speak to outsiders, let alone allow air-quality testing to take place.
But the bottom line, based on my decades suing oil companies over environmental contamination, is that not nearly enough has been done to warn and educate communities about this very real hazard, which is caused not just by the oil itself, but by the controlled burns and other sources.
