BP official: Restoration offices to open in Gulf Coast states

B

BP’s Gulf Coast Restoration Organization expects to open state offices in each of the four Gulf Coast states affected by the oil spill by October, according to Mike Utsler, the company’s chief restoration official.

Utsler, BP’s lead representative in the Unified Area Command and chief operating officer for the BP Gulf Coast Restoration Organization said today during his first trip to Horn Island that each state office would operate satellite offices in the coastal counties.

Utsler expects a satellite office in each of the three Mississippi counties, which will be staffed locally with 50 to 100 people. The locations should be identified later this month.

The offices will be used primarily for continuing recovery operations.
